German Election Shock: Scholz Concedes as CDU/CSU Wins & AFD Makes Historic Second-Place Finish!

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz acknowledged his defeat as the CDU/CSU won Germany’s national election. The far-right AfD made history by securing second place with 20.4% of the vote, its strongest national result ever. CDU leader Friedrich Merz pledged a quick government formation but ruled out any coalition with Scholz’s SPD, which experienced its worst result since WWII. Migration was a key issue in the campaign, with figures like Elon Musk and J.D. Vance weighing in. While analysts expect a CDU-led coalition, Scholz’s future role remains uncertain.
